Feb 15, 1889 Scott Co. Argus Mr. Fridolin Feldman died very suddenly Wednesday morning at 7:30 o'clock of heart disease. Mr. Feldman was over 72 years old and one of the earliest settlers of this section having located at his late home at the bluff just north of this city in 1851 or '52. June 6, 1901 Scott Co. Argus Died- Feldman: At her home a mile south of town, Tuesday, June 4, 1901, Mrs. Elizabeth Feldman, aged 76 years. Deceased was a native of Switzerland where she was born in August, 1826. She came to Minnesota in 1854 with her husband and settled at Chanhassen. In 1861 they moved to the present home south of town, where she has ever since resided. Mr. Feldman died about 12 years ago. They had 7 children, 4 boys and 3 girls, who are all grown to man and womanhood. The funeral will take place tomorrow from St. Mark's church at 9 o'clock. Sept 3, 1915 Scott Co. Argus Michael Feldman died very suddenly Saturday August 28th at his home at Eden Prairie. He retired apparently in his usual health the previous evening and was found dead by members of his family the next morning, death being due to heart failure. Born at St. Louis in 1851, Mr. Feldman came to Minnesota with his parents when four years of age to the farm where practically all of the sixty-four of his life were spent, residing there after the death of his parents with his brothers Fred and Joseph and sister, Miss Mary Feldman. Two other sisters, Mrs. Fred Mitchell of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Michael Bremer of Eden Prairie survive him, also a brother, John of Humbolt, S.D. All were present Monday at his funeral which took place from St. Mark's church, except Mrs. Mitchell. Others present from away were Mrs. M. Horner of Hopkins, Miss Josie Bremer, Henry Cavanaugh and Adam Teich of St. Paul. Sept 29, 1898 Chaska Valley Herald Notice of whereabouts of Catherine Feltman, daughter of Leonard Dosch, wife of Michael Feltman, Chanhassen. Left several years ago. May 17, 1928 Shakopee Argus-Tribune Word was received in this vicinity last Tuesday, May 8th, of the death of Miss Mary Feldman, who died the same morning at the state hospital at Rochester, following a 3 year's illness. Death was due to complications of diseases and old age. Mary Feldman was born at Chanhassen, Minn., April 5, 1856. She spent practically all of her life at the home of her brother, Joseph Feldman in Eden Prairie township until 3 years ago when she became seriously ill and shortly after was taken to Rochester hospital where death claimed her. She had been a faithful member of St. Mark's Catholic church all her life and died blessed with the last rites of the Holy Catholic church. She is survived by 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Joseph and Fred of Shakopee, John of Humboldt, S.D., Mrs. Elizabeth Bremer of Webster, Wi., and Mrs. Caroline Michel of Los Angeles, Calif. Funeral services were held at St. Mark's Catholic church on Saturday morning at 9 o'clock. Rev. M. Savs officiated. Interment was made in the upper Catholic cemetery. The pallbearers were Paul Vogel, Max Vogel, Wm. Richard, Henry Teich, Charles Berens, and Charles Zimmerman. Among those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mrs. Elizabeth Bremer of Webster, Wi., John Feldman of Humboldt, S.D., Wm. Gessler of Hopkins, Minn., Miss Antoinette Hoen of Mpls. The Argus-Tribune joins the many friends of the family in extending sympathy in their bereavement. Aug 20, 1931 Shakopee Argus-Tribune Fred Feldman, a well-known man and citizen of this community for many years, departed this life last Sunday following an illness of but a few days. He was taken suddenly ill last Thursday evening. He was taken to Shakopee Hospital for treatment. It was found that his trouble was a bowl adhesions from which he suffered severe pain. Everything possible was done for him but to no avail and he passed away early Sunday morning, Aug. 16th. Mr. Feldman was born at Chaska, Carver County, June 19, 1861. He spent his boyhood on the old homestead where he had made his home ever since. He worked at his trade of stone mason, occasionally doing farm work. He never married. Mr. Feldman was a thrifty, hardworking man. He was unassuming, quiet and kindly and was content when he could be useful to others. The deceased is survived by 2 brothers, Joe Feldman of Shakopee and John Feldman of St. Paul and 2 sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Bremer, Webster, Wi., and Mrs. Caroline Michel, Venice, Calif. The funeral took place from St. Mark's church Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock, Rev Father Savs officiating at the church services and at the grave. R.T. Schumacher, Edward Kopp, Henry Druke, Martin Lenzmeier, Peter Huth and Hulbert pass acted as pallbearers. He was a member of St. John's Society of this city. The interment was in St. Mark's cemetery. Relatives and friends who attended the funeral from distant points included Math and G. Bremer and Mrs. Elizabeth Bremer of Webster Wi., Mrs. John Barthol, Mrs G. Schneider and Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Sherlock of St. Paul, Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Voelker of forest Lake and M. Horner and Wm. Gessler of Hopkins. Mar 18, 1937 Shakopee Argus-Tribune Mrs. Fred Michel, 78, sister of Joseph Feldman, died at the Queen of Angels hospital, Los Angeles at 1:10 a.m., March 8, relatives were informed. Funeral services were conducted at the Catholic chapel, Los Angeles, and burial was in Calvary cemetery. Mrs. Michel, nee Caroline Feldman, was born in Chanhassen township, Carver county, February 20, 1859. Following her marriage to Fred Michel the couple moved to California 45 years ago. Surviving Mrs. Michel are 5 children, Mrs. Mac Glenn, Mrs. Margaret Steiner, Mrs. Elizabeth Ford, Fred J and George A. Michel. In addition to her children and brother Joseph by a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Bremer, Webster Wi., and a brother John, of St.Paul. Jan 5, 1950 Shakopee Argus-Tribune Joseph Feldman, 82, throughout his life a resident of the Shakopee community, died at his home at 7:40 Saturday morning. He had been in failing health for 3 years. The funeral was held from the Phillip chapel and services were conducted by Rev Joseph Endres at St. Mark's church at 9:30 Tuesday morning with interment in St. Mark's cemetery. Pallbearers were Ed Hennen, Peter Huth, Leo Marschall, Hubert Pass Sr.,V.C. Stein and Paul Vogel. Joseph Feldman was born March 25, 1867 on the family homestead in Eden Prairie township just north of Shakopee where he resided until his retirement in 1942. First associated with his father in the operation of the farm, he later became the owner of the tract which he developed into a highly successful enterprise. His crops of choice fruits and vegetables found a ready market throughout the surrounding area where for many years he had a large and steady clientele. It was on Jan. 26, 1897, that he married Mary Elsner in a ceremony performed in Shakopee. Mr. and Mrs. Feldman established their home on the Feldman farm and they remained until moving to Shakopee in 1942. Here they purchased a home on Shakopee ave. and it was there that Mr. Feldman died. He was a devoted husband and father, a considerate neighbor, a generous friend and ardent supporter of church and charitable activities. Surviving Mr. Feldman are his wife, a son Frank, of Mpls; brother John, of St. Paul; and a sister Mrs. Elizabeth Bremer, Webster, Wi. A daughter, Marie, preceded her father in death in April, 1948. Dec 13, 1951 Shakopee Argus-Tribune Funeral services for John M. Feldman, 87, former resident here who died in St. Paul at 5 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 8, were conducted by Rev Henry Scherer at St. Mark's church at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 10. The funeral was held from the Phillip Funeral home and interment was in St. Mark's cemetery. Pallbearers were Peter Huth, Bernard Huth, Richard Sherlock, Charles Sherlock, Pat McGovern and Max Vogel. His wife, the former Mary Rose Rohsrucker, whom he married Nov. 11, 1884, died in 1898. Surviving Mr. Feldman are a son and four daughters, E.A. Feldman, Mrs. Joseph Weiland (Ida), Mrs. Joseph Huth (Frances), and Mrs. Thomas Sherlock (Rose) of Shakopee; and Mrs Joe Voelker (Laura); Forest Lake. He is survived by 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, and sister, Mrs. Michael Bremer, Webster, Wi. For many years he was engaged in farming. He was in that occupation in Minnesota until 1900 and later left the state. May 5, 1899 Shakopee Tribune Mrs. John Feldman (nee Rosrocker) died of consumption at the home of her mother in this city, on Tuesday, May 2, 1899. She leaves a husband, 5 small children, a mother and many friends. This death is a very sad ones as the motherless children are all of such tender years, the oldest being only 12. Mr. Feldman has the sympathy of the entire community. June 7, 1901 Shakopee Tribune Died: Feldman, At her home two miles north of the city, Tuesday, June 4, 1901, Mrs. Elizabeth Feldman, age 76 years. Mrs. Feldman was born in Switzerland in August, 1826 and came to Minnesota as early as 1854, pre-empting a claim near Chanhassen. In the early sixties they moved to the fine farm on the shores of Feldman lake, which was thereafter their home. The husband died 12 years ago and Mrs Feldman had made her home with her son, Joseph, on the old homestead since. Seven children, all grown, survive her. The funeral was held this morning from St. Mark's church, Rev. Alois Plut officiating and the funeral cortege was one of the longest seen in many a day, showing how highly she was esteemed among her friends and neighbors. ( Scott Co. Argus said they moved into their house in 1861 other wise it is the same) Oct 15, 1942 Shakopee Argus-Tribune (E.P. Column) Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Feldman and daughter Marie moved from their farm home here into their newly purchased home in Shakopee last week. Mr.and Mrs. Axel Erickson of Mpls. have purchased the Feldman farm and are now comfortably settled there. We regret the loss of the Feldman family in our community, but trust that their new home and surroundings will prove favorable. Darrell Peterson, Axel Erickson's nephew, bought the farm from him in 1962.
