Aug 29, 1901 Chaska Valley Herald The HERALD is called upon this week to chronicle the death of Lambert Heutmaker, which occurred at his home in Chanhassen on Thursday morning, Aug. 22, 1901, at the ripe age of 84 years 7 months and 17 days. Lambert Heutmaker was born in Guttekoven, Provinz Limburg, Holland, on Jan. 5, 1817. he brought his family to the United States in 1863, settling in Carver Co. His wife died Jan. 3, 1864. In 1866, he married Mrs. Teresa Emsidler, who died Dec. 28, 1893. He is survived by 8 children, all the issue of his first marriage, three sons and five daughters, namely: Leonard, William, Mathias Heutmaker, all well known citizens of Chanhassen; Mrs. Gerhard Schroers and Mrs. John Eder, of Chaska; Mrs. Hubert Salden of near St. Bonifacious; Mrs. John Bruns of Chanhassen and Mrs. Christ Johnson of Mpls.; 60 grand children and 37 great grandchildren. Deceased was a remarkable man physically and was strong and vigorous up to within a few weeks before his death. He was very social in disposition and fond of company and of sterling integrity of character and few men had as many friends as he had. His death is deeply mourned by all who knew him. His children and relatives have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement. His funeral took place Saturday from the Catholic church at Victoria and was very largely attended. Peace to His Ashes. Jan 11, 1894 Chaska Valley Herald Mrs. Heutmakers, wife of L. Heutmakers of Victoria, an aged lady was buried at the Catholic church in Victoria. We have no data at hand regarding her sickness or age. (My Comment: This was your Great-grandfather's second wife) I looked for the Obit. of Lambert's first wife but found nothing. What I did find is an 1880 map that showed his farm.
