June 1, 1899 Chaska Valley Herald Michael Schuller of Chanhassen has sold his valuable farm to his nephew Mike Jacques, who has resided upon and cultivated the same for the past two years. This is a valuable farm with good buildings and will make a cozy home and we hope Mike will live long to enjoy the same. Mr. S., is an old gentleman and will pass the balance of his days in quiet ease. This fall he will go to Washington, to pass the winter with his two sons, who have good farms in that far off state. he has earned a good rest and we hope he will enjoy his well earned competency. Oct 7, 1948 Hennepin Co. Review Funeral services were conducted for Michael Jacques Monday morning in St. Mark's church, Shakopee. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Matt Jacques, born Oct 29, 1873, at St. James. He spent his boyhood and early married life in Chanhassen township. On Oct 27, 1896 he was married to Miss Josephine De Gross at New Market, Minn. In 1929 he moved to Riley's Lake and retired in a new house he built on the lake shore in 1936. He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Leo Grimm, Mrs. Len Ohnsorg of Chaska and Mrs. Irwin Mitchell of Eden Prairie, three sons Alferd of Chanhassen and Ray and Jerome of Eden Prairie, 7 sisters, 20 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death. For several weeks his health had been failing and about a week before his death he suffered a heart attack. he was taken to the St. Francis hospital in Shakopee where he passed away on Friday Oct., 1. Pallbearers were Paul Vogel, Max Vogel, Roland Rogers, George Tessmer, Walter Neidenfuehr and Rinault Dorn. Sept. 25, 1958 Shakopee-Argus Tribune Mrs. Josephine Jacques, 82, long a resident of the Chaska and Riley Lake areas, died at St. Francis hospital here at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20. She had been in poor health for two months, the victim of a heart ailment. The funeral held from the Phillip Funeral home and services were conducted at St. Mark's Catholic church at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Marvin Klaers was the celebrant of the solemn requiem high mass. He was assisted by Rev. Albin Scheidler and Rev. Robert Bayer, OFM Conv. Pallbearers, six grandsons, were Leonard Ohnsorg Jr.; James Grimm, Ray Mitchell, Donald Jacques, Duane Jacques and Russell Jacques. Interment was in St. Mark's cemetery. Mrs. Jacques, the former Josephine De Gross, was born April 20, 1876 in New Market where she attended school and grew to womanhood. It was there to that she was married to Michael Jacques, Oct 27, 1896. Following their marriage , Mr. and Mrs. Jacques established their home on a farm near Chaska and after their retirement moved to a smaller tract on the shores of Riley's Lake. After the death of Mr. Jacques some years ago Mrs. Jacques continued to make her home at the lake. Active in church and parish work throughout her life Mrs. Jacques was a member of the Christian Mothers and Rosary Society and the Third Order of St. Francis. Members of both organizations attended the funeral in a body. Surviving Mrs. Jacques are a son and three daughters, Jerome Jacques, Mrs. Leo Grimm (Ann) and Mrs. Leonard Ohnborg (Rose), Chaska and Mrs. Irwin Mitchell (Laurine), Eden Prairie. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Margaret of Staples.
